In EEG experiments, it is common practice to digitize the locations of the electrodes on the scalp. This data is typically used for later source modeling of EEG activity.
Even without EEG, it may be useful to digitize other locations on the head, such as to document the locations of sham TMS electrical stimulation electrodes, or to repeat measurements of the fiducial points to assess registration reliability.
